Tumbling "E" charts are considered one of the best alternative vision tests. Although Landolt "C" charts are considered the
"gold standard" of alternate vision tests, many studies have shown that Tumbling "E" charts are very close. Illiterate "E" vision tests are great for the detection of Amblyopia and their shape gives a grating illusion. Letter recognization for both foveal and peripheral vision is very high. Tumbling "E" charts are a great alternative vision chart.
