Tumbling "E" charts are an alternative vision test to traditional Sloan and Snellen eye tests. Much like Landolt "C" charts, Tumbling "E" vision tests are reliable and use only one optotype. However, by using the letter "E" in testing, a grating effect becomes present and helps in testing. Tumbling "E" charts are considered nearly equivalent to Landolt "C" tests, the gold standard in alternative vision tests.
