Proper retro illumination is an essential part of contrast sensitivity testing. Contrast vision tests are calibrated using a constant source of accurate lighting provided by the large ETDRS Illuminator Cabinet (Cat. No. 2425). This illumination cabinet provides a steady source of accurate retro illumination. Without this source of light, the contrast sensitivity test contrast levels would not be true. The ETDRS Illuminator Cabinet is highly recommended with this contrast vision chart.
