PV Numbers are calibrated to Sloan standards. This means that each number used in the PV Numbers optotype list, has certain necessary qualities. Some of these features would be occupying appropriate room in a 5x5 grid. Also, all numbers must blur at threshold to ensure a positive test. Each number is equally difficult and the combination of these create a vision test that is accurate and is equal from beginning to end.
